A question about Universities

Hopefully this is where this goes - I didn't see any specifically education related area to post in.

Aaaanyways.

Hi! I have a question about universities in Switzerland - namely, about studying in English in Switzerland. I...used to speak French vaguely fluently (at about the level of a 12 or 13 year old), and am currently using my spare time to learn German, but I will in no way be fluent to a university level in either by the time I want to go on to a Master's Degree. I'm a Linguistics and Literature student in the UK, and, really, I was just wondering if there are any programs in Switzerland (I'm relatively unpicky about where, but I do have a particular soft spot for Geneva) in either Linguistics, Literature or the Classics (and any mixture of the above) that are offered mostly, or wholly, in English.

Thanks for your input! I searched around the site for awhile and didn't find anything except universities that taught Business/Marketing in English (and typically the two groups don't coincide ), but if I've missed a thread, please send me the link!

Re: A question about Universities

check which University appeals to you the most: Wikipedia reference-linkList_of_universities_in_Switzerland

Then check their respective websites to see if the extremely unlikely case of them teaching "Lettres" or something of your liking exists in English. I noticed the University of Genf has 2 business courses in English (a "Master of science in statistics" and a "Master of Arts in International trading, commodity Finance and shipping").

From my understanding, German is only required for the Bachelor Programs, and only very certain Master's Programs; Master's degrees can be done in English, at least at the University of Zürich.

Here is a list of the Master's Programs offered by the University of Zürich; you can check whether the language of instruction is English.

Good luck !

Re: A question about Universities

From CRUS (an umbrella organisation of Swiss universities), a page purporting to list all study programmes in English at Swiss universities.
