General Gift Voucher for Swiss Shops

I'm organising a wedding present and wondering does anybody know of a general gift voucher, (one that would do for a number of different shops) for sale in Switzerland?

Otherwise, if anyone has a better wedding present idea, they are very welcome

Thanks,
Derek

Re: General Gift Voucher for Swiss Shops

They come in various denominations, and are called "Swiss Franks", or CHF.

You can get a 100 CHF note, which will buy you the equivalent of around 30€ of goods from any Swiss shop.

Touché

What about the etiquette? Aren't vouchers a little 'nicer'? or just better to get to the point?

Not really..

Basically with a voucher you have the risk of choosing a shop they dont like. I would prefer to get money that i can actually spend instead of being forced to go to some shop i hate. A gift would be better but money is the safe choice.

Re: General Gift Voucher for Swiss Shops

The only shops that I'm aware of that use the same vouchers across Switzerland are book-shops. If they're not registered anywhere or haven't expressed any specific gift desires, most newlyweds love cash, though I agree it should be carefully packaged and possibly accompanied by a small gift which is meaningful to the couple and to the giver.

Re: General Gift Voucher for Swiss Shops

Gift vouchers can be had in just about any shop of whatever kind.

How about a couple concert or cinema tickets?

Case closed.

A couple of small bits and a suitably sized envelope for the remainder.
