Sunday and after hour rules in Vaud

I have searched (and failed) for Sunday and after hour rules regarding noise and burning of fires. Can anyone direct me to the correct site please? Nutter down the road has decided to burn leaves (hugh amount of damp leaves) and so the whole neighbourhood with all our blankets over the balconies and the house open for airing, now has the disgusting flavour of smoke. I am pretty sure that backyard fires are not allowed and hence teh skip for garden materials at the dechetterie.

These rules are usually decided by your local commune. If you phone the Police they will know if it's allowed or not.

I guess you'll all be surprised to know that fires are not necessarily verboten just about everywhere. But it is not allowed to burn them if they are not dry and are making too much smoke.

This is a PDF.

"On excepte de l'interdiction d'incinération de déchets en plein air uniquement l'incinération de déchets naturels provenant des forêts, des champs et des jardins, dans la mesure où ces déchets sont secs, ne produisent pas de fumée et où l'on peut s'attendre à ce qu'ils n'engendrent pas d'immissions exagérées."

Hi,
Do what Blonaybear says and have have a chat with the Commune. They are the best source for this stuff and might even take it up with the culprit on your behalf. Bear in mind Chesières is a rural commune half way up a mountain so it's a small community. They might also help navigate any sentsitivites. If you call the police you might get a name for yourself.

Re: Sunday and after hour rules in Vaud

Thank you everyone. My partner wandered on down to chat to the culprit who was piling on damp leaves and GRASS CLIPPINGS! - he (the culprit) said he had no where to put the debris (and like said above this is a semi rural commune!), my partner mentioned a compost might be a better idea but perhaps his age and the German-French-Australian transaltion got lost. He had asked the police and they were oked it. Anyway after another 1/2 hour the choking smoke dwindled and we were able to venture outside on a truly glorious rest of the day! I have been checking the Commune d'Ollon website for any information but will call them tomorrow.
MiniMia that information is great.
Thanks y'all.
