English speaking driver classes needed (Zurich)

Hi Guys,

Good morning.

I need to take a road test in late November, to covert my driver license into a Swiss one. So I booked my EN speaking instructor, in order to get familiar with the local rules and etc.

As planned, we are supposed to have intensive classes during October and early November. But now she won't be available any more due to her health condition.

So I am wondering if you guys know any other good EN speaking driver teachers ?

I am in Zurich, close to Orelikon. But any teacher in Zurich could be considered.

Thanks in advance and have a great Sunday.

Fei

Hi Fei
Adliswil is very easy to reach from ZH. One 15 min train ride (Sç) from Zurich HB. Some driving instructors will also meet you at your place so perhaps give the guy Nelly mentioned a call and ask where he is willing to meet you for lessons.
I would give you my driving instructors contact details BUT he was a total perv! The lady I went through after my 2nd lesson with Mr. Perv only speaks German but she was lovely.

Re: English speaking driver classes needed (Zurich)

I'm in the same situation as you. I contacted with one guy and pay 96 CHF only for one our class (!!!) He told me that I needed to give priority to pedestrians, bikers and right moved cars on crossroads, stop before red lights. F..ck! I now all this shit. I drive a car since 2004! I two time passed the exams (for B and for A category) and now I need to teach it again and pay horroble money for nothing?
No, I don't need any lessons. Thank you switss bureaucracy! Just give me my driver licence. I don't want wasting 700 CHF for nothing.

Re: English speaking driver classes needed (Zurich)

Thanks Anderson,

But do you have the contact details for the 96-CHF guy. Yes it is extremely expensive, but I will need this one as a back up...

I am not good driver anyway, and I heard that the test here is very very strict. I don't want to screw my only chance...

Thanks a lot and good luck !

Fei

Re: English speaking driver classes needed (Zurich)

why do you need to take a test?

I thought you just give in your current licence in and got given a Swiss one in exchange.

Maybe I'm wrong but no one I know who swapped licence said anything about a test.

see the licence conversion thread as it'll have the list of licences issued by countries which need a "Kontrollfahrt". It is basically a formality.

Looks like you'll be needing some help with the written test then, whichever language you choose to swear in.

In the meantime, ensure that you have a man running ahead of you waving a red flag to warn all those unfortunate pedestrians, bikers and road users in general of your presence. P-lease.....

Er, hopefully you do. I'd hate to meet you with my nose pressed against your windscreen because you thought that those yellow stripes on the road was the start of a racetrack.

Hi Fei,

As with most driving schools opperation in the Zurich South area lessons start (and finish) at or near Bahnhof Enge. It may seem like a lot of money but it's a lot cheeper than having to do the entire process from the bigining which is what happens if you fail the kontrollfahrt. Unlike some people commenting here I don't believe that I know everything about driving especially in a new country which has some pretty unique driving rules/laws not necessarily found in any other country. I eneded up taking 3 lessons and passed the kontrollfahrt with no problems.

Good luck!

the advantage of doing it from there is also that, if you're doing the test at Albisgütli, you'll drive the roads around there in your "lessons" and you'll be aware of the odd flows, mirrors and 30 limits around there....that you're likely to see on a test.
