Purchasing from Germany

Hi there,

I'm just looking at the following item on Amazon.de;

http://www.amazon.de/PC-Aufrüstset-T...6518368&sr=1-1

It costs 239.99 EUR. If I have that shipped over to Switzerland, does anyone know how much/if any tax would be added to it?

I'd love to be able to buy prebuilt motherboard + ram + processor combos, but no shop in Switzerland (save Ricardo) seems to offer them.

Re: Purchasing from Germany

It will be shipped free of tax, and you will pay 8% Swiss MWSt on €239.99 and a handling charge, plus a tax on the weight of the package.

Is there anywhere where I can find out what taxes + handling charge will be added?

Re: Purchasing from Germany

I purchased quite a few things from Amazon.de... When you specify your delivery address, they'd reduce the price (to adjust for Swiss vat) and might add a bit for delivery.

Personally, I haven't had to pay anything more for the items I've bought so far (including a big bulky tripod).

So basically, you end up getting the item for cheaper than advertised on Amazon.de (I did!)

Thanks for that link. I'm struggling to decide which exact category computer hardware would come under?

Re: Purchasing from Germany

I'm not sure that Amazon.de will ship computer hardware to Switzerland..

I've found that you can take the buying process up almost to the end but it then says the goods can't be delivered to the selected address.

Please don't take this as gospel, I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has had any luck but I'm pretty sure I tried ordering some electronic equipment (a video capture card) and that was the result. I ended up having to get it shipped to my brother who lives in Frankfurt..

Re: Purchasing from Germany

I think handling fees for under Chf 500 is Chf 18 and for over 500 it is Chf 35, plus the 8%.
