Christmas or After Christmas Sales Zurich 2011 Need Help

Christmas Sales in Zurich 2011 Need Help

Hi Everyone,

I have a question about Christmas and after Christmas sales in Zurich. I will be in Zurich from 20th December to 10th of January and I was wondering when would be the best time to go sales shopping and bargain hunting in Zurich, before or after Christmas or it does not matter ? I'm mostly interested in clothing and small electronics.

I know it's still kinda early for this question, but I like to prepare on time and maybe save some money for these sales. Thank you for your input and time.

Take Care

Thanksgiving Sale?

Quite limited for bargains.

Basel might be better.

You might want to go up to Konstanz, DE by train from Zürich to visit their markets including on their Christmas Ship.

You're coming to Zurich for clothing and electronics bargain hunting? Please share whatever you're smoking. Maybe your wallet, too.

You may find that sales in Zürich are quite a rip-off compared to other places. I have found bargains but I mainly only go for bigger clothing items, like a good winter coat or last years ski-gear. It's mostly tat brought in especially for the sales. Germany was not bad advice.

I agree with Poptart and Old Hand, I would go to Germany, maybe Munich, and after Christmas. Tuesday 27th December is when the sales will start.

If you are already here in Zurich, take a look after Christmas, but look very carefully at the clothing items, some will be just cheap rubbish.

That was the rule till the early 1980s. By now do shop-owners understand that lots of kids get cash for Christmas and cannot wait to spend it. Sale starts somewhen in the first to second week of January. In Germany typically a bit earlier than in Switzerland.

For clothes shopping I'd always recommend to go to an outlet center. Best one reasonably near to Zurich is Metzingen. My personal favourite is Zweibrücken (but not worth a daytrip from Zurich - but if you happen to for example drive to the Benelux or UK, it is a worthwile detour.).

if you like Bally or Tods, then they normally start their sale a few days before Christmas but the signs etc are very discreet - in Tods look for coloured dots on the shoes - the different colours relate to different discounts - Bally is a little clearer with the prices adjusted.

COOP in Sihlcity and Bahnhofstrasse have WMF saucepans on action and then half price.... large stockpot for example is 298 chf reduced to 44 chf..... bargain not many left so be quick!

They have:

8 lt stock pot
6 lt meat pot
saucepan 16 cm
Milk jugs
