| | WARNING - Fraudulent phone calls - Please read!
Apologies for this being in German, but I'm sure most can get the jist of it. Hopefully I'm not repeating something Copy from an email sent out by the Zurich Police. VORSICHT!!!
WICHTIGE INFORMATION !

Google translate gives the following:
Last night was a colleague of a phone call from an unknown person.
These are identified as employees of Telecom, which would perform an experiment on denTelefonlinien. You should mention, in order to complete everything that he press on the nine (9) and then the zero (0) and then finish with unddann Gartenhag (#) hang.
Luckily, the suspicious colleague and has set up without accomplishing this. He contacted the services, which told him that he
the attacks (9.0 and #), the other the liberty to use his phone line for long distance calls that are charged to him then!
So, NEVER press # for 9.0 and one other person!

I just saw it and thought it would be helpful to send around... Prefer to warn, even if the warning is not needed in the end. Safe rather than sorry.

While we are on the subject,
A few months ago I also received an illegitimate SMS from the Zurich Police.
It insinuated I was involved in a sexual harrassment claim at a restaurant near the airport, and that I was to contact an officers name and number.
I foolishly tried to contact the person (as I knew this had nothing to do with me) but the phone didn't answer.
....... I then realised that the Police don't send an SMS, and I contacted the police directly and handed them the details of the phone number, the advised contact number and name.
They told me that this wasn't a police number and that they had no record of the officer (I was supposed to contact).
In the end, nothing actually happened. But I wonder where this would have led to if the phone had answered. I guess the lesson here is....... the cops don't send SMS, so just report it directly to the police.
Impersonating a police officer is also a serious offence, and I'm sure they'd follow something like that up.
It was the first time I had experienced this, so I thought I'd share the story just in case anyone else receives the same SMS.

Btw, does anyone have an idea what the "end-game" of a scam-email of a scam is?

I wonder why nobody's tried a 419 pretending to be Fergie. It would be quite credible.

In case they find some underground activities, they send emails to a selected group of people.
