Small Security Safe

Does anyone know somewhere selling small safes for the home (key operated or password)?

I don't want anything major, just somewhere to put some relatively valuable items (watches, cash etc). Something between the 80-300 CHF mark ideally.

I've looked online and unfortunately everything is abroad, and the item is rather heavy and large to have posted. I was hoping for a local dealer or even a shop that stocks some.

I actually just thought of selling my safe. I will try to send you some pics once I get home. It is not huge, but fits all the important documents as well as a decent amount of cash. It gets unlocked with a key or via fingerprint.

Re: Small Security Safe

LiB, could you tell me how much this safe would hold in terms of small cellophane wrapped parcels, secured with duct tape, weighing about a kilo. each?

Well, it certainly depends on the content of said parcels...

Out of curiosity, what does one do to secure the safe itself? I mean, if the safe is small, it can be carried or carted quite easily; it always seemed to me that putting things in a small safe was like wrapping up a Christmas gift for a thief. But then large safes are too heavy for most apartments and require safe movers to get from point A to point B in the event your floor (and landord) support 500+kgs.

There's a safemaker in LeLocle I visit from time to time as he also has some cool metalworking machines for sale; up in the storage area he has some neato safes that are built into bedside tables and things like that. Totally disguised and hidden. They were old, wonder if things like that are made anymore.

Well, most safes come with holes in the back and are supplied with adequate screws, with which you can secure the safe to the wall, etc.

Cheap safes only keep honest people out. Most can easily be opened. Certain models can even be opened with a potato! do some research first.

One small security safe, choice of key or code.

Bang in your price range, and then 57% off. What more could you want ?

Just look for the German approved sign "TUV"

Large DIY stores (Heim and Hobby etc) sell small safes.

Wow, that is high security! Every time I've seen a criminal on TV (films, news, documentaries) I've always seen them with tools, drills, explosives etc. Even guns sometimes. But never have I seen one equipped with a potato.
