Cinema Costs, is there a benifit to getting the membership card?

hello,
i was thinking about going to see a film recently and i was wondering how much it costs for a ticket here in Zurich? and are there any cheap cinemas or ones that specialise in Anglophone films?

also i heard there is this membership card thing that costs 20CHF and gets you a reduction? is that the cost per year or month and is it worth it? where do i get it and is it for all the cinemas in Zurich?

thanks

Ticket in the abaton, without 3D, costs about 17CHF. If you get the monthly card, which I believe is 38 CHF, it's cheaper. But you better go a lot to the cinema to make it worth it.

Usually abatons have 2 - 3 movies in original English. But depends on the size of the cinema.

Pathés are similar in prices and offers.

I have the cinecard and have gotten many cheaper movie tickets. I don't remember how much I paid, I seem to remember it was around 100 CHF but I've had it for 3-4 years now so maybe the cost has changed.

How it works is you add money to the card via your credit card, and when the balance is low you just top it up. You pay for the movie tickets online (the card is linked to your user name on www.kitag.com so you only need to enter the details once) and I do the print at home or go to the box office with the booking number. If you only reserve with your card you need to get the tickets at least 45 mins before the film and they will have no issue turning you away if you show up 15 mins before.

The only downside is you can only purchase 2 tickets at the reduced price of 13 CHF, and additional would be the regular price. And not all movies are eligible for 13 CHF tickets, but I don't know why. I go to the theatre a lot so for me I find it's worth it.
