mrs. was surprised at that as well... he never comes in the house and usually tells us about garden work ( hedge trimming etc, ) but this was a shock.
Maybe someone stole it?

Re: Garden Design ?

While not an app, and perhaps not your cup of tea, keep in mind Schilliger has a garden designer on hand. They also have helpful staff it you want to bounce a few ideas off them.

If you want bulbs, I would recommend www.bakker.ch, they have a nice catalog and have a few planned out garden arrangments with bulb, plants, bushes, etc.

In the end, perhaps pick up a good gardening book, and plant away.

Perhaps he got a nasty letter from the commune saying it was higher than X, and not Y distance from edge of plot, thus it had to be removed immediatly otherwise they would do it and charge him accordingly. Lots of this kind of stuff going on around here now that they insist on building on every inch of soil, and every road is maximized and only millimeters from all property.

thanks... I visited a garden centre saturday and bought quite a few bulbs... and spend a good part of sunday afternoon digging them in... come spring I'll buy whatever strikes my fancy to fill the area.

RunningDeer.. if you drive thru our village... look across from the post office and you'll see a new apartment block going up.. that is being done by and is in our landlord's and our backyard...result of the building he is looking to minimize anything that needs maintenance... he told me saturday that next to go will be an arborvitae hedge at the back of his property :-( ( and I managed to dig out some raspberry cane that had been marked for demolition )

Yes, sigh, that seems to be the way everything is going nowdays around here. Rip everything up and destroy just to build a new apt. building, and yes, I believe I saw it when driving through not too long ago. ps-I used to be your 'old' neighbor then, rue du village 37, the 8 room or so apt. building.

And I would add, don't spend a lot of money on your garden if you are renting and don't have long term assurances from your landlord, your garden could be the next apt. building. Even so, they sometimes destroy the neighoring garden during construcion just to get a crane or large lorry to the spot, so hope it stays a garden at least til spring.

thanks... most of our garden is movable ( pots and such ) and the few chuf's I spend on bulbs I don't mind so much for the enjoyment we'll get over the next few years... we have been told we are safe there for a few years... no room for more apartments on the tiny garden left.. we've also heard our landlord wants to move out of his larger house now that the kids have gone and move into ours when we fly the coop.

and you lived at the place just on the corner?.... yes just in our backyard ( and across the street

yep, just across from the restaruant la couronne, or whatever it is now called. Believe the entrance to my old parking garage was right across from your place then.

the couronne is still the couronne.. fairly nice food these days... it's owned by the same people that own/run "geneva cottages" .. just on the lake road towards Versoix.. past the petrol station.

parking entrance.. yep.. and that is going to be the scene of a few smash up's in coming years.. the entrance to this new apartment block with be almost exactly opposite your old one.

Just to clarify...
The 'Thanks' was because you made me laugh, not because I advocate violence to chickens, even evil ones.
