Where to buy dressmaking patterns?

Hi,

Does anybody know where you can buy dressmaking patterns (ie McCalls, Vogue, etc) as well as dressmaking fabrics. I am in Lausanne but would also be interested in places in Geneva, Vevey and Montreux.

Many thanks,

Re: Where to buy dressmaking patterns?

I'm not sure where to buy patterns, but I found Modesa on Rue de St Francois. They had a lot of fabric, one floor for dresses/clothing, and 1 floor for curtains. They might have patterns as well, but I wasn't looking for them.

Re: Where to buy dressmaking patterns?

I would honestly try an online UK store, that stuff is ridiculously expensive here and sometimes costs up to 10 times more than the exact same stuff elsewhere in Europe...sorry I am not much help!!!

Yes Modesa has patterns. But I buy them online. They are much cheaper.

Thanks very much for your help, I'll check out Modesa for fabrics and go online for patterns.

MiniMia is lucky as she has a Creasphere material shop near her. Unfortunately for you, Bulle has the nearest.

If you Google Vogue patterns (which also includes McCall) they have a good website with customer service, etc.

Re: Where to buy dressmaking patterns?

There is a chain of fabric stores in the area called ALJA Nouveau SA Tissus & mercerie, stores in Payerne, Nyon, Vevey, Lausanne, Morges, etc..

They have patterns from McCalls, Burda, Butterick and some others. They stock them, but if not in stock they order them for you and you get them in less than a week generally.
