Re: My latest painting- what do you think?:)))

I like it, but I'm one of those people who likes to see a title which gives an insight into what the artist was thinking (or wanting to represent) at the time.

And don't just put "untitled 2012" or something, cos that's even worse

Hopeful Eyes 2012
Painted at a time of the economic crisis, the artist was only living Switzerland for just over a year and a half and just started to get the hang of Swiss life and the local language "Schwizerdütsch". The painting depicts a hopeful bright future. The colourful hair is thought to refer to the international presence and diversity of the communities around Zürich.

Re: My latest painting- what do you think?:)))

It's well executed and appealing.

I wouldn't want it on my living room wall though. The stare is a bit too intense.

I feel the exact opposite, don't like to look at titles, if someone does a perfectly good picture, then sticks some awful pretentious title on it, or something maudlin, it takes something away. Why ruin a good picture with a rubbish title? A lot of titles also just seem to come across as cliches as well.

At least with "Untitled" it leaves the picture to stand on it's own.

OP, love the painting, title it or not, don't tell me.

I like it, it shows you have talent, i also like the colour choices, but i agree i wouldn't hang it in my house, for 2 reasons, 1st its too intense, too in your face, 2nd (and this is a personal taste thing) if i hang anything in my house with "humans" in it, has to be people who i know, love and mean something to me. Otherwise i stick to abstracts.

I think the title is "sad look", at least when i click on the pic thats whats shows under it.

I get your point, but for me a piece of art is more than just aesthetics. It tells a story. The artist's story. And as such I'm interested in a title and even a description. I understand that some people want to interpret art their own way, but - and maybe because I'm not talented/interested enough to do that - I need it spelt out to me

And the staring eyes captures that daily sitting-in-public-transport-with-the-Swiss moment.

Re: My latest painting- what do you think?:)))

I really like your style.

On a purely personal note, I find the first one too intense (almost scary, to be honest), but I very much enjoy the first two of the series you linked next (let's say 'purple hair' and 'blue hair' for lack of better words).
