Opinions...

Which do you prefer...there is no cost difference...For A & C imagine there is a diamond being held in place by the prongs that are pointing up

Re: Opinions...

Isnt a and c the same?

Neither is really to my liking but from the three i would say b. The other two seem like a stabbing weapon!

A and C are different - they also are shown without the center diamond as that is purchased separately

B, same reasons as above. Also the sticking out claws would be totally impractical as they would get caught on everything and anything in real life.

Propose with a cheap ring, and then give her the cash to choose her own

Yeah.. but his girlfriend is from the US, so those ideas may not apply.

Crutcheeees mate, I suggest you ask your girlfriend, not some random strangers.

I like A&C better than B. But really A&C look too similar to choose between the two.

My birthday is in Nov. Thank you!!!!

ETA: Ok, I see the difference now. I like C the best.

November huh? I think I might give it away before then, but if I still have it, it's all yours

Re: Opinions...

If it can help...

I love bling bling, that should have been my nickname actually.. Anyway, my point is that I have different option depending of my mood. One or 3 diamonds and a single band or an eternity one.

They are just the prongs that provide a seat for the diamond, they will then be pressed to hold it in place and won't stick out any more, or so I guess.

Lol...
But I'm from the U.S. and can't stand bling. I didn't even want (and don't have) a diamond wedding ring.

Re: Opinions...

Whatever you choose your girlfriend should love it for the meaning and not for any other reason. I know people who got engaged with coke can ring pulls or gummy rings and are happily together after many years (granted, a real ring was purchased after the engagement). It's the commitment and sentiment that's important after all.

Saying that though, I am a girl that would be happy with anything if the man of my dreams wanted me forever .

My kind of girl (like my wife ).

Actually, I think that for out engagement I simply ordered the papers from our Heimatorts, and presented her with a "fait accompli"

(anyway, she doesn't do German, so I HAD to order her papers! )

This. Seriously.

A ring is so personal - and the potential to get it wrong is huge. Ask her, not us.

(Me, I dislike jewelry, rings in particular, and diamonds especially. Good thing OH asked first... )

Re: Opinions...

I got a nice diamond but a very simple ring for my finance and think it looks nice - she really likes it. I guess it depends where you want to focus the attention. I agree though that the sentiment is really the important part.

Re: Opinions...

Just get a big enough diamond, and it'll be fine. If she doesn't like the ring, you can then choose another, more to her preference later and have the diamond transferred.

Re: Opinions...

I like A the most. I don't like how B and C bend in towards the diamond. I like B the least.

That said, you know this person. Has she already given you some ideas? Would she prefer a surprise?

I agree it's about the love. That said, the practical side in me would hate to see you spend a lot of money on something your lady will wear every day for the rest of her life yet might not love as much as she loves you. Maybe you could stealthily ask some of her friends to help you...

Re: Opinions...

An engagement ring is such a personal thing, I prefer simple any time.
I think you need to check out your girlfriend's taste with maybe her friends and family, and don't forget about size, nothing worse than a romantic proposal (and acceptance) and then the ring is too small or too big.

Good luck though, I hope she says yes.
