Which type visa for parents (India)

Hi EF friends

My parents (from Delhi) want to visit me here in ZH. I don't know if they need to apply "tourist visa" or "visitor visa" (document requirements are a bit different). They would be staying with me & I would be taking care of their expenses here . They would be staying for approx 30 days.

Any Suggestions?

it is a visitor visa if they are staying with you and you are providing lodging. It is much simpler application and chances of gettign a visa much higher.

Re: Which type visa for parents (India)

Thanks !

The visitor visa needs my financial details (salary & bank statement attached with form), I didn't have any problem if my parents submit the form themselves but one of my relative is helping them to submit it, So I don't want to share my details. Is there any other way out?

PS: My parents are 65+ and this relative will drive them to the agency in Delhi and other logistics, I don't want to say no for that kind of help.

From what I understand, the documents (invite, salary slips, bank statement etc.) have to be faxed directly by you to the Swiss Embassy in New Delhi, it does not have to be sent to your parents for inclusion in the application. I know this from experience.

We always FAX our financial details directly to the embassy -- so relatives / agents / middlemen don't get information they don't need to know

My parents applied yesterday at VFS New delhi.
Here is what we did:
1. I sent my invite letter and other bank details to them
2. They made their own set of documents
3. Booked an appointment with VFS
4. submitted the documents at VFS
6. Have been provided a tracking number

I had emailed the embassy about faxing them the invitation letter, and they had replied that I need not do the same.

I understand that you do not want your relative to know more than they ought to, my suggestion is to check with the embassy. Your parents will need a copy of the invitation letter atleast.

Here in above mentioned points I think the "them/they"? are your parents not VFS Delhi?

Did you book the appointment for parents or they did themselves? Sorry to ask many questions.

Thanks ~ RR

No problem.

Yes, by they/them I was referring to my parents.

I made the appointment with VFS through email, I did mention the applicant details. My parents had to then take a print out of the confirmation and visited VFS.

By the way, their visa is processes now, it took 5 working days.
