Stupid question perhaps - but how do I claim bottle deposit back?

This is somewhat shameful to admit but I have no idea what to do with our empty glass beer bottles. On the back it says they have a deposit value of CHF0.50-1.00, depending on the brand.

I remember as a kid there was an automatic bottle sorter in Migros that swallowed up the empties and spat out a receipt for the value, which you could cash in or use as shopping credit. This doesn't seem to exist anymore - so, where do they go?

I know some breweries will take back their own-brand empties but only if you bought them by the crate.

Thanks!

You sure it was Migros you bought them from? They don't usually sell beer.

Coop should have one of those "Bottler Eater" things that gives you a credit note (though it's been a wile since I bought beer in a bottle).

No no, we got them from Coop I think - I just remember the Bottle Snatcher from a branch of Migros many miles and years ago.

I'll have a nose around Coop, might have to try a bigger branch but thanks for letting me know they still exist!

I meant in a returnable bottle - I was being lazy.

But not as lazy as when I put said bottle in the bin bag instead of the bottle bank
