Where to buy poster/mailing tubes?

I'm going nuts trying to find a plastic or solid cardboard poster mailing tube to send some canvasses back to Australia. Neither the post nor any of the stationary shops I've visited thus far had them available. Can anyone help?

For those unsure, I'm after something like this: http://www.google.com/products/catal...ed=0CGUQ8wIwAA or this:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/browse/...es/N=5+530025/

Would a Post Pac Size 7 be alright ?

Alternatively ask them if they have a substitute for Plastik Postsendung schlauch ( plastic mailing tubes ).

Re: Where to buy poster/mailing tubes?

Or buy an appropriate length of PVC downpipe from a builder supply centre. I have done that in the past - stronger than any other tube arrangement I have ever found and not that much heavier.

I have also used lnegths of kevlar tubing - good for small canvases or paper posters that can be rolled tightly. You can get them from canoe/kayak centres. BIgger canvases could actually be wound around the outside of the tube, with bubble wrap over that for protection.

Thanks both - I couldn't find anything like the post pac at two post shops (Zug), but I might try further afield should the chance arise. Otherwise PVC would do the trick for sure.

I'm not sure where you live, but I know there is a poster/print shop at Stadelhofen (in downtown Zurich). Maybe they sell them, or at least could tell you where to find them. Another suggestion would be to try to find one of those printing shops -- the ones that will print poster-size photos for you.

Or a FedEx or DHL store, if they have those here.

Re: Where to buy poster/mailing tubes?

Old post, but high up in google, so I'm answering here.

I was going nuts myself, trying to find a place to buy poster tubes online or offline in Switzerland. I already did the same one and two years ago, without success.

Finally now, I don't know how, I found Ratioform.ch selling exactly what I was looking for. Plastic telescope tube of 60cm - 100cm length. Perfect! I am so happy

Teleskop-Pack
Ideal zum Transport von Plänen, Zeichnungen, Plakaten, Postern, Stangen, Stativen oder ähnlichen länglichen Gegenständen bis 1000 mm Länge.

Thanks for posting that. I often have to resort to saving old tubes up.

Go to UPS/DHL website, sign up for an account (free) and order some supplies (free) including shipping tubes/boxes/envelopes

Re: Where to buy poster/mailing tubes?

you could also ask at a fabric shop if they have any tubes left from the rolls of fabric....
