What is a registered letter called in German?

I need to send off a registered letter urgently. Does anybody know what it is called in German? I'm not sure what to ask for at the post office.

I'd really appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Carmen

Re: What is a registered letter called in German?

If you're sending it abroad, they actually call it "Registered"

Einschreiben is maybe the word you're seeking

My German is not brilliant but I have always thought it was eingeschriebener Brief.
