John Lewis seems to be ditching its international customers.
It used to be a good option, with a user-friendly website and no restrictions on international deliveries of clothing in a wide range of brands. But the website recently underwent a number of changes, including the introduction of an international delivery group, and
a large proportion of the clothing (appears to be at least two thirds) is now no longer available for international delivery (i.e. marked as "international delivery not available"). Trying to order these items online does not work and neither does trying to order them by phone, as customer services claim that they cannot process the order and refer you back to the new site. They also claim that the international delivery policy has not changed.
e.g.
Women's tops by Mango: of the 503 tops, none are now available for international delivery
Mens' jeans of 113 jeans, only 10 are now available for international delivery
Dresses by Phase Eight: of 147 dresses, only 12 are now available for international delivery (mostly
reduced to clear or out of stock)
Mens' shirts: of 844 shirts, only 276 are now available for international delivery (0/146 by Thomas Pink, 0/37 by Ted Baker, 2/30 by Ralph Lauren, etc.)
Women's coats and jackets of 1335 coats/jackets, only 450 are now available for international delivery
Mens' suits: of 116 suits, only 54 are now available for international delivery (mostly cheaper brands, like John Lewis)
Ordering clothing is also made more difficult by the removal of brand-specific size guides. Phoning customer services will not necessarily help, as the size guides from the old site have apparently been deleted from their records. The new site is also said to have
other problems.

When are you relaunching the John Lewis website? John Lewis managing director says:
We’re trialing the new website at the moment, and that’s gone smoothly. We’re planning a relaunch for February. It’s a lot simpler process for the checkout. The big thing is the personalised experience, [the site will know] your previous journey. | |
