| | Tetra Pack (Juice cartons, milk cartons etc..) Where to Recycle?
I really want to recycle these things but I just keep throwing it out every month.
I asked my recycling plant in Schwyz and they advised to just throw it out. My monthly pickup of papers does not include Tetra packs/cartons.
I read that some places do not find it profitable to reycle tetra packs due to the paper and aluminum combination, takes allot of effort.
Does anyone know where I can Recycle these Cartons?
Just trying to be green. | This user would like to thank clone000 for this useful post: | |

We just put them in the bin, they can't be recycled. Or at least there is no provision for recycling them in Switzerland.

I take all my 'impossible' or space-wasting packaging back to the Migros and put it in the bins. I'm not the only one I've noticed. I think all waste, of every description, should be returnable to the seller. Maybe we'd then get some sensible packaging.

We put them in with the paper, but around here (I'm pretty sure) the paper just gets burnt, as they take any and all paper products (cardboard, etc.).
They also do not separate glass by color here like they do up north.

Having heard that, we brought our milk cartons, plastic packaging for meat and fruits, etc to our local Migros only to be told off by the Migros staff. They said those have to be disposed in the bins at home and not in the stores |

While on this subject, does any one know how to recycle tins for Deo sprays and shaving creams etc? I am not sure whether we can put them in recycling bins of normal cans since they have a plastic thing on top, and also that they have compressed air.

But we just have to be firm and continue to leave this stuff by the one who causes it. There was a great deal of noise in Bern about 'Der Verusacher Prinzip', (Moritz Leuenberger), so let's enforce it. I'd be prepared to pay a deposit on all packaging but such a move needs determination.
And we'd have a clean Switzerland again.

I will continue to do more research thanks for the reply. | | | | | Using PET bottles instead of paper based packaging which tends to be produced from sustainable sources probably isn't a good idea.
Nor is the argument that the rubbish is incinerated - electricity or heat produced in this way emits 30% more greenhouse gas than that produced from conventional gas fired stations.
Oh - and if you further want to hit your conscience, you really should consider the carbon footprint of drinking any citrus or tropical juices at all!

Exceptions to this rule are individual pollutants such as mercury or cadmium, emissions of which are in any case extremely low in Switzerland owing to the absence of heavy industry. | | | | | From here |
