Protein Whey

Anyone know where the cheapest place is to get some standard protein whey for after workouts close to Basel... I am thinking Germany or France is a likely answer..

That depends on what products you're used to and would like to purchase. Use the search function, I believe there are some threads, with the answer you're looking for.

Re: Protein Whey

I stopped buying supplements in Switzerland, just too expensive for something imported and stored somewhere in a store. Now I buy online, get it delivered in Germany, and pick it up. I'm buying from http://www.muskelfarm.de/ at the moment.
As for whey protein this is currently what I'm using: http://www.muskelfarm.de/all-stars-wheyplex-p-7652.html

Re: Protein Whey

Our Gym has a shop in the front and they sell all sorts of protein powders - can even get a shake made for you at the desk - that way you can try before you buy. I don't use it so can't tell you what it's like or how much it costs but you can give them a call or stop by address (kleinbasel) is on the website:

http://www.fs-club.ch/

They also have an online shop based in Germany (I think they have another Gym in germany too):

I import pure whey protein, derived from grass fed free range animals. No antibiotics, no hormones, no soy lecithing, no gluten and no added carbs.

I have tried quite a few different brands and this is without a doubt the best tasting one of them all.......just like chocolate milk and without the normal protein taste....very yummi.

You can get it from swiss-supplements.ch for as little as 58 CHF for 2.2 kg. but since I am not happy with their service you will not get my recommendations to buy it there. I think they have a physical store as well.....maybe.

However....they are so cheap that I might buy there again......so cheap to ignore.

x2

I've had nothing but the worst possible 'service' with these people, and can only recommend avoiding them completely. They charged my credit card, and that's the last I heard from them. No answers to my emails. No product shipped. Their merchant services provider (who can't be contacted without first opening a PayPal-like 'account' with them) told my credit card company that no refund is in order, even though it's been 2 months since they took my payment, nothing's been delivered and I can't get a response from the seller.

I say stay away smells like fraud.

Re: Protein Whey

www.bodybuilding.com and www.iherb.com

Although both in the US I received stuff within 36 hours of ordering from bb.com and maybe 72 hours from iherb.com

Since supplements are taxed like books at 2.5% you can order a fair amount before the VAT kicks in (5chf/2.5%=under 200chf including postage)

It's OK with milk, but if you prefer water, I find the taste and texture of the ironmaxx much nicer.

That's what I thought too. My last order from iHerb though was taxed at 8%. (So, on about $140, it's CHF 30 from DHL). And it was all vitamins, fish oil, etc.

So now I just order the equivalent of CHF 60 at a time and pay $4 to ship it. Takes longer, but the shipping is nearly free when you take into account the discount.

Yes it can be a bit random once you are closer to the limit if they tax or not. iHerb does ship vitamins to CH which bodybuilding.com does not.

We're talking about cow's milk here. Most cows producing milk are indeed free-range and grass-fed, I would have thought. So your producer's proud claims look pretty unimpressive, unless I'm missing something.

Do you have references showing that this kind of contamination is a problem? Gluten looks particularly bizarre - it's wheat protein. Lecithin looks funny too - whey protein disperses and dissolves quite nicely without that as an additive, IMHO.

Somebody is making a lot of money out of selling this stuff. I think the bulk price for high grade whey protein is about 10CHF/kg.

You've been in CH too long. In the US a lot of beef is cornfed. That said I'm sceptical that the derived protein is nutritionally different too.

Yes, generally the packaging costs more than the contents for a lot of supplements, and the marketing is more than both.

Re: Protein Whey

bodybuilding.com has the best whey protein and very quick shipping. Not sure the shipping rates to europe, as I order when in US and pack in luggage!
