What do you do when your neighbour rings your bell?

Well yes I open the door. Many times though I am with the pants down taking a shit, having sex with my women or walking around in my leopard skin pattern thong. In such cases I just act like I am not the in the flat. Downside of this method is having to keep quiet for for next few hours. Don't want neighbor to think that I was intentionally ignoring them.

Is it ok to buzz them 10 minutes later and say that I was busy taking a dump and could not get to the door? What method do you use in such situations?

Whilst taking a dump?

Are you some kind of contortionist by profession?

Addendum: How do you explain how you knew which neighbour it was, if you were taking a dump/pretending not to be in/shagging your missus?

They are probably ringing your bell as you are making too much noise grunting on the loo, screaming in your bed or dancing around in your leather thong.

So no need to tell them why you didn't answer as they already know.

I don't think you live in Switzerland at all. Everyone knows that Swiss neighbours wouldn't dream of ringing the bell and risking confrontation, but would rather leave a passive-aggressive sticky on your door.

Re: What do you do when your neighbour rings your bell?

I can get to the door within couple of minutes to see who was ringing but I am not presentable enough to actually open the door. By the time I make myself presentable the neighbor usually goes back into their flat feeling rejected.

I can tell which neighbor it was by the sound of the closing door.

Open the door when you are not presentable and the problem goes away
They won't ring again....

I need more than a minute though

Once I said I will buz them in a bit but they got confused as the door has good sound proofing. They must have heard muffled version of what I said and they ended up standing there for 5 minutes instead of usual 15 seconds.

Give them your telephone number and tell them to call instead of showing up out of the blue.

They have my phone number already but telling them to call me next time sounds unfriendly.

I don't think there is a solution. I will have to stick with my current routine of playing dead.

Better still, pin a year planner to your door so they can make an appointment. Everyone's a winner.

Install a traffic light system. Red=On the Job so don't bother, Green=Waiting for you to knock, Orange=nearly done, try in 30 minutes.
