Cheap arts and crafts supplies

I'm looking for some cheap arts supplies I can use at my daughters birthday party. I was thinking either small canvases or clay. We have 16 kids coming, so I really dont want to be spending 20 francs (or more!) on a canvas for each kid.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm in Zurich.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Cheap arts and crafts supplies

What about painting cardboards. They are usually cheaper then canvases.

You find them on Rennweg in Zürich.

Little out of your way....

When i was working with Kids i used to pop over to Weil Am Rhein to the TEDI euro shop. Loads of random arts and crafts for only acouple euro. It was great.

I dont know if there is a place like that near you but may be useful info for those near Basel

Re: Cheap arts and crafts supplies

Finding cheap arts & crafts supplies can be difficult.

But I found some not too expensive packages of canvases at CASA.

Also have you tried Jumbo? They have an arts and crafts section too that tends to be less expensive than Coop.

Like the Professor, I was also going to suggest painting cardboard or painting paper. Another option would be to buy wood boards. You'll have to prep them first (paint them white) but it will most definitely be cheaper. You can buy the wood boards at the DIY section of Coop. They come plastic wrapped in 4 or so depending on the size.

Re: Cheap arts and crafts supplies

I was also searching any charity shops for craft items and found this.
As you are looking for canvas , i have seen in Radical http://www.radikal-liquidationen.ch/ There are spider man, disney characters on canvas and attached are the crayons for the children to colour them, hope they are good for kids as gifts,am also planning to buy for my son's next birthday. Cost is only 2-4franks i guess, not sure of the exact rate but nothing in the shop is more than 10 franks,Many of you might know it.
Hope it helps.

cheers
Kavi

Re: Cheap arts and crafts supplies

Hello,

I took a look to some of the links provided in this topic but I could not find what I am looking for. I would like to personalize and make my own christmas balls.

Therefore i am looking for plain balls either made of plastic (that you can paint or open and put stuff inside) or made of polystyrene.

Would you know where I could find this in Zurich? That would be super helpful !

Thank you in advance

Myriam

I saw them in COOP Bau and Hobby but I didn't pay attention to how much they cost.

They have the Styrofoam one at both at Hornbach and at Jumbo in various sized. They were around 2.90 for 3 or 6 depending on the size.
