The 2nd Amendment as explained by a Brit

Piers Morgan (I had to Google him) made a complete Twit of himself.

His general ignorance is surpassed only by his estimation of his own worth. At least he had the brains to make a career for himself in a country that wasn't entirely sick of him already.

Well, he's an absolute c**k and will shortly end up in prison (if the circling vultures are to be believed) but to be fair to him, he's at least got the courage to point out the ridiculous state of gun control laws in the US, which US broadcasters tend to studiously avoid.

What a good post to make it 3,000
Piers Morgan isn't all bad, during the second Gulf War he ran the staunchly anti-War Mirror, at a time when Tabloids were falling over themselves to slaver praise on our brave boys and the steely resolve of wartime PM Tony Bliar whilst spitting furious bile on conscientious objectors, anti-war MPs, Jaques Chirac, Gerhard Schröder et al.
The Iraq war eventually claimed his scalp, along with Greg Dyke (DG BBC) and quite a few others in the media.

Re: The 2nd Amendment as explained by a Brit

Why does the 2nd amendment interest the Brits so much? Who cares, it's an entirely domestic issue, let the Americans deal with making their own laws and the consequences thereof.

Come off it. He's a slimey, nasty, vindictive, opinionated little toad. Typical journalist.

Never-the-less, you wouldn't want him as an enemy when you're a pro-war Labour MP getting into bed with the Bushites.

Noooo! Can you imagine the bloody English with free access to firearms? It would be mayhem.

Let the Americans cherish their birthright and let us cherish ours. It's a different planet over there.

To be clear, PaddyG is talking about Piers Morgan, not our good buddy CaviarChips.

Congrats on 3,000 posts, Chips! I have a way to go before I get there.

Re: The 2nd Amendment as explained by a Brit

I, for one, think he has a point. To think one is going to arm themselves at home to then protect them from/overthrow the US Govt/military is an absurd idea to me...but I didn't grow up in a gun loving family...don't really see the need to have one. I do have bunches of friends on Facebook who have posted their children's first deer kill, etc. I find it interesting in a country where we won't let our kids walk 200 feet down the road to their friend's house on their own, we let them handle a rifle to shoot and kill something. Maybe if they took the rifle with them as they walked down the road? But, I digress...

I'm no historian, but I expect that people would have had the same reaction if you'd have proposed the idea of a bunch of colonists arming themselves to kick out the Brits in the 1760s.
