Re: Feuerwehrersatzabgabe - what is this?!?

Those directing traffic in car parks are not fireworkers.
firework volunteers are paid 30 to 40 per hour including paid training.

It is the easiest money you ever made...

Re: Feuerwehrersatzabgabe - what is this?!?

volunteering to set up for community events is different and even for that you will receive some form of minor compensation.

However the militia firefighter service is very well organized and is well paid. It is volunteering because its not mandatory but it is paid. Training is paid, alarm responses are paid and work is paid at around 30 to 40 chf per hour.

In most kantons the militia firefighting falls under Militär, Feuer- und Zivilschutz and pay is governed by law.

45chf for every alarm when you go to the fire station, even if you do not have to do anything plus 35chf per hour if you work.

same applies to training courses and you will receive free uniforms and gear.

and obviously you will not have to pay the fee to the community which is around 300chf in most bigger communities.

Thank you very much @bigfujitsu for this invaluable information! I already filled and sent the contact form for Milizfeuerwehr (Kontaktformular Milizfeuerwehr). I will contact Major Büchler Jörg as you suggested too.

I hope my limited German don’t let out in my willing to help.

Thank you once again, I really appreciate your time invested in sending all this and your help.

Send you big regards

Germany has the same system, in the smaller towns and villages it's just part of the way of life.
