Taxes to import bycicle parts from UK

Hello guys.

I'm going to spend some days in Zurich in november.

Once I love bycicles I'm taking some bike parts from an online store to do a upgrade.

Unfortunatelly I didn't found any Swiss online bike store so I needed to buy from an on-line store from UK and it will be delivered in my hotel.

My doubt is if do I need to pay some import taxes? I've been spent just 655CHF in parts such as crankset, fork suspension, front derailleur and a cassette.

In positive case, how much is the tax percentage?

Where I pay it? Should I go to a post office or is possible to pay in the hotel or by internet? How it works once I'm foreigner?

Regards,
Edson Garcia

Re: Taxes to import bycicle parts from UK

Swiss Tax for importing bycicle parts from the UK is if you do it by yourself 7.6% GST ( not more), if the Parts arrive by Mail, there will be a fee of 18 sfr for processing the Goods and the 7.6 % GST as well.

Re: Taxes to import bycicle parts from UK

As we are outside the EU, ask the UK online sales office to send the parts without the 20% UK VAT (Sales tax = MWSt or GSA).

You pay the Swiss tax and fees to the postman when the parts arrive.

As you are in a hotel, you might want to use the "Post Restante or Postlagernd" free service here. Example,

Herr

Erich Müller
Postlagernd
8002 Zürich 22
Switzerland

Take your passport when collecting the parcel.

The Swiss VAT is now 8%.

You will pay this percentage on the total value of the shipment (parts and shipping cost).

Depending on your shipping method (Post or other carrier), you will pay a flat processing fee of approximately CHF 18-35.
