Hairdresser recommendation in the Zurich area?

Does anyone know or could possibly recommend a REALLY GOOD Hairdresser in Zurich. I've been here a year now, and have tried so many hairdressers... and it's just been one average job after the other... people have told me that there are no good hairdressers in Zurich. I've moved here from NY where i had a fantastic cutter and colourist, so i know my expectations are high... but could it really be that there is not one Hairdresser in Zurich that knows what they are doing? Uchhhh.... Please Help... if you know a fantastic hairdresser... let me know! Thanks.

Re: General Hairdresser / Barber thread, Zurich region

Wow, I feel so ghetto. I do a yearly cut myself. Typically, I grab the kitchen shears, hack off a bit and I'm done. Mind you, I've got super long curls so messy is sort of..my thing.

someone who can give me a buzz - typically called a barber where I come from. (#3 on top and #2 on the sides.)
Amici in Luzern was 30 chuffs but they put it up to 35 so screw that... Is there anywhere in Zurich that's close to the Bahnhoff for around 25 chf?

Re: General Hairdresser / Barber thread, Zurich region

Hi!

Any suggestions for barber in/around Zurich that could speak English and have fairly decent price? It is like 10 times for the same services comparing with that I had back at home. I was thinking of waiting while I get back to home and get my hairs done (that what suggest most of the people), but I am going to on a trip to do some presentations/talks and probably would be nice to look more decent.

I have grown quite long hairs now.

I am reading older messages, send few e-mails. But nothing came back so far.

Thanks,
david

Re: Hairdresser recommendation in the Zurich area?

This is who you need: English Hairdresser and Makeup Artist (Zurich)

She is the best I have found in Zurich & her prices are very reasonable too.

I would recommend IBO Coiffeur in Oerlikon (between Bahnhof Oerlikon Ost & Sternen Oerlikon) - does a great job for CHF 44.

Have you tried McConnels Hairdressing @ Limmatquai? Personally my favourite.

Lets say they are more alternative style-they dont have blow driers all around ( actually they don't have any)and its well more " laid back". The guys there will speak English if you want but they are not exactly fluent in English.

Will cost you 65-75 for hair cut-wash and dry. They cut well and are very experienced.
ps: you should call them to book a time. .
Mc Connels is pretty expensive.

Re: General Hairdresser / Barber thread, Zurich region

I just got a new haircut from Kim at Seinart in Neu Oerlikon. It was really expensive (119 CHF, for women's long hair, she said it is 109 if you have short hair) but she was super nice, spoke good English and didn't mind that she had to do it while my six month old was bouncing around on my lap.

Oh, and she took about eight inches off my hair...so next time it will be cheaper

I go to a very good English barber in Zürich: www.finemore.ch, the prices are pretty good. I understand she does children's hari as well. Good luck!

I know there was a previous thread started on hairdressers, but I'm not looking for a hairdresser, just someone who can give me a buzz - typically called a barber where I come from. (#3 on top and #2 on the sides.) I've looked around my local area and 40 CHF plus seems to be the norm which just seem ludicrous to me. I'm going to the States in September and will definitely be picking up my clippers. Until then, does anyone know somewhere where I can get a simple cheap cut? I'm even open to someone else doing it in exchange for a drink at one of our next meetups. Any takers?

Best bet in Zurich for a barber who is rock solid is in Hottingen, right off the Romerhof tram stop on Asylstrasse. Doesn't speak English, but TRUST ME, the old man knows what he's doing!

Re: General Hairdresser / Barber thread, Zurich region

As mentioned in another hairdresser thread, I recommend to check for local 50% deals regularly. Couponing suppliers like DeinDeal or Groupon often have 50% coupons that are valid for 12 months.

A good and efficient way to keep track of the deals:
http://www.dealanzeiger.ch/zurich.html

PS: actually, there is a hairdresser coupon at the moment: -55% at cult
