Re: [Haircut] Seek English-speaking Hairdresser/stylist/barber

Can anyone recommend a good, english speaking hairdresser in Basel please?
I know there's a couple of recommendations on here, but they seem pretty pricy (65CHF at one of the places) when all I'm after is a basic cut - no fancy washing, colouring or styling rubbish!

Back in the UK I'd been going to the same place since Junior school, so this will be the first time in... 15ish years I'll have had my hair cut in a place I don't know

Re: [Haircut] Seek English-speaking Hairdresser/stylist/barber

A great Hairdressing Salon and Barber in Uster, which is just a 15 minute direct train from Zürich HB (S5 or S15). It is located right next to the Red Ochre Aussie Pub & Grill by the railway tracks.

Andrea is my hairdresser and she is excellent. She doesn't speak any English, but doesn't need to. I don't speak any German but the job gets done perfect. She cuts great hair and she is cute as hell.

Price - 32 francs

Give them a call in advance to secure an appointment. I never do, but then again I live close by and can go anytime.

Re: [Haircut] Seek English-speaking Hairdresser/stylist/barber

I found a pretty good place if you are near Schaffhauserplatz area (Zurich - kreis 6)

Coiffeur Masoud
Schaffhauserstrasse 86
8057 Zürich, Switzerland
044 364 15 05

There was no wait on a Sat at 11 AM. 28 CHF and several of them speak English. Susanna did a great job and didn't try to sell me a bunch of extra crap.

My first haircut since I got here. Now to find a reasonably priced dry-cleaner....

There's a great guy in Buchs SG, italian but speaks reasonable English. He is on Technikumstrasse, but I've forgotten his name for the moment...

Try this one;
Josefstrasse off Langstrasse
Between numbers 91 and 74.
Easy to spot on google maps.
Approx 27chf and is a good mans cut.

Girls only speak german so it helps to know that the grading system in the UK is different to here. They work in millimetres here so a normal grade 4 back and sides in the UK, could have you looking like a US marine over here!!!!

Unfort i've come-a-cropper with this one

Re: General Hairdresser / Barber thread, Zurich region

I have taken the plunge and booked my first haircut in Zürich. Since arriving here fifteen months ago, I've been relying on trips back to London to trim my Barnet.

So, tomorrow at 9.00am I get to try out my A2/B1 level German at Mad Lux. I figure that if I managed to make the booking in German, I should be able to guide the Friseuse.

I'm guessing Mad Lux is mad in the British rather than the American sense.

Re: General Hairdresser / Barber thread, Zurich region

Welcome to Switzerland, you make 150 KUSd a year almost tax free, but it is difficult to have the hair cut for less than 40 USD.

Just one question, why would one worry in spending almost 500 USD a year on hair cuts? This is just 3/1000 of the yearly income.

I still agree with you that 40 USD for an hair cut is far too much. But sincerely I don't bother.

Haircut

Can anyone suggest me where i could get a haircut around Zuerich for a cheeper price/fare quality? I have medium long hair (not reaching shoulders). As i have never done my haircut in Switzerland, had to look around quite a bit but all offers were between 75-95CHF (including washing/drying). Did anyone have cheeper experience with a good result? Thanx..
