where to donate used books

Spring cleaning and I cleared off a couple bookshelves... what does one do with used English language books in Zurich? Will the Brocki take them?

Re: where to donate used books

You can try to sell/give them away on this very forum. I am sure there are still a few people here, who do not yet own any Hunger Games or Harry Potter books.

Re: where to donate used books

Hiob Brockenhaus (thrift shop / charity shop / second-hand goods) in 8046 Zurich Affoltern receives donations of books (and other goods). A true bibliphile works there, and the categorisation is good, so it's a great place to shop, too.

Here is another one, for books only:

And this wonderful Brockenhaus also takes (and sells) books (and other donated items):

Re: where to donate used books

Hi, I live in Lugano and cleared off books, too (fiction, ESL-books, Reiki, Buddhism, illustrated books,...). The only address I had is Booknook, which seems closed.
Anyone knows where to "donate" english books in Lugano or to post anywhere in Switzerland (3-4 Migros paperbags)? Thank you

As far as I know (from experience) local libraries are taking only novels in English..no gardening books, politics or whatever else.
Ask people you know or just advertise on EF. Leaving them somewhere with the "Gratis - zu mitnehmen" sign won't be very helpful either.
The funny part is that I could not donate any book in German either! Boo hoo. But in this case the Gratis sign worked wonders.

Re: where to donate used books

There are various Brockehuus around which are happy for book donations. Just go to their main website and you can find one nearby. There are also charity organisations around which collect things for free, sell it at fleemarkets and then donate the money they got for it.
