Professional jacket button repair in Basel?

The higher of my two-button wool N&L RTW SB jacket popped under pressure, so I'd appreciate advice where I could get it re-sewn by a professional in Basel.

I made a bad experience recently with an Italian tailor who retired in May and moved away, so I cannot confront him with his shoddy alterations.
He was recommended to me, so I'm disappointed even more.

There's a men's tailor two blocks from the Art Museum in Alban Vorstadt, but he's not interested in such repair, and the tailor shop on Freie Strasse he recommended sells ugly clothes.

Any dry cleaning shop here, has a connection with a local seamstress.

It's an off the peg jacket. What are you expecting could happen sewing on a button?

Turkish tailor on Bruderholzstrasse - between Tellplatz and the pedestrian bridge over the railway.

But seriously... "He sells ugly clothes" as your measure of whether they have a tailoring service!?!

Be very careful & specifically ask what they charge for the service. My first few months in Basel, I started a new job so I went to Globus and bought a few female suit jackets that were on clearance. They cost me total 150 sfr. I found a swiss women who was a retired tailor, she said she could take up the sleeves for me, no problem. I left them with her, came back 5 days later, the jackets were great but then she handed me a bill for 1000 sfr. NO KIDDING. The jackets were 150 total, so imagine my face. Anyway, I had to pay her she refused to budge even 1 franc but I learned a very expensive lesson. For any service in Switzerland, always ask the price up front because they will get you every time.

There is a Coop in Claraplatz across from the pet store. Just a few doors down from the coop is an Asian store selling clothes. Those ladies in there do alterations for very cheap compared to anywhere else I found & they are fast.

Quite. Anyone with half a brain cell could sew it on themselves without making a mess of it, it's not rocket science.

Yes, that is correct. I also look at the kitchen before dining out.

Exploit??? They are not chained to the wall! It appears all suggestions are not good enough for you and a bog standard jacket so best toddle along and find someone that suits you in that case (pun intended)

They turned red pretty quick. I noticed this the other week - first rep initially showed up as green, for a couple of minutes, before catching up with itself and noticing the -ve points.

Re: Professional jacket button repair in Basel?

OP contacted me to ask if I knew a place, which I don't. I can do a whole suit myself but his needs are to sew back a normal button.... I am sorry but no.

I am busy unpacking and my sewing kits (threads and needles) are in boxes. It will be faster for OP to learn to do it himself than it will take me to open the boxes to find the kit and meet him to do it.

OP, it takes only 2 minutes to do and learning it will save lots of time, energy, money and frustration.

Mr Trump,
May I suggest that you fly to London and avail Alan Sugar's Tailor Services.
