I am thinking about continuing my studies in switzerland in the university of lausanne as I've found a finance program that suits me.

1. I would like to know how much money do I need monthly to live in lausanne, with details if possible. Note that I want to rent a room only , or a room in a private dorm since apparently the university doesn't provide dormitory .

2. Although i have read old threads that mentioned the absence of student loans in switzerland, i would like to know if this has changed now . And if the fact that i'm a european union citizen helps .

3. I would like to know if it's easy for students who graduate from swiss university to find jobs in switzerland , because I am thinking about continuing my studies in switzerland and getting a master degree in Finance .

I am from an EU country , and I speak french fluently.

Welcome to the forum phil_sy. Rather than starting 3 threads you could have asked all your questions in one. Still, here you go. This link will provide you with all the info you need for studying in Switzerland.

Job opportinities in Finance? Well, the market here is still contracting and may continue to do so over the next few years so don't expect it to be easy. Try these websites to get an idea of how many and what sort of financial jobs are available.

Re: Costs of living in Lausanne

In my experience Lausanne is cheaper than Zurich, I am there quite often and I rented a room in an apartment at a convenient price (500 CHF/month). But due to the fact that it's a university city, getting a flat can be difficult, especially in this time of the year.

For the rest, in terms of amount of money needed, it always depends on what is your lifestyle...

Re: job opportunities for swiss university graduates

If you look on the UBS and Credit Suisse sites you will see pages of jobs listed. Are they all "real" jobs? I don't know.... But there are a lot of them for sure!

Keep you eyes open on the job search pages and see if what you are interested in is listed and if so how many.

There are certainly also a lot of internships, at least in my field.... Sadly I'm a bit (just a teeny tiny bit!) too old for internships.

Good luck with your studies.

No worries, you're merged into one thread now so you can get answers in one place. :)
