wrist-watch repair

in the land of clocks i need a watch repaired. it's an Omega so good quality and sentimental to me so i want to fix it. Anyone any experience of getting a watch repaired - Zurich area. I don't want to go to jewellers in the Bahnofstrasse for obvious reasons.
thanks

OK , properly this time ....

If you have an original watch , I would not just trust it with anyone . The guys in bahnhofstr. guarantee their work and parts . Prices are quite steep but seeing this is Switzerland , I don't think you would find any other decent ones much cheaper ( around CHF 640 to service/repair a rolex oyster but the prices are fixed ; there is a catalogue where they read off the model number and price ) .

Re: wrist-watch repair

Hi Criketer

There's a small place on Bellevue called Greenwich MT. They may be able to help you in there.

Why not ask for a quote from a Bahnhofstrasse shop ?

Re: wrist-watch repair -waiting time

I have recently left my watch in for service (on Bahnhofstrasse)they then emailed me with a quote for the work, asking if I wanted to continue with the repairs.
So you are not surprised by the bill though that was 5 weeks ago and I am still waiting.

Re: wrist-watch repair -waiting time

Omega has its own boutique on Bahnhofstrasse - they probably send it back to the factory for anything more than changing a strap or battery.

Re: wrist-watch repair

The search function is your friend. Omega watch service

There is a good watch maker on Todistrasse whose watches use the same movement as that found in many Omegas (Tags, etc). He works with several watch makers and will provide you with a better price and a more personal level of service that you will find on Bahnhofstrasse or directly with Omega.

His details can be found here http://www.mauricedemauriac.ch/sites/eng/kontakt.html .

His watches are also very nice, excellent quality and reasonably priced...
