Hi, I know there are a few pilots on the forum and would like to address my question to them.

Could you tell me a bit about the JAR FCL3 Class 2 exam and what it entails? Is it invasive or is it just answering a bunch of questions of your medical history? Is the exam different for males/females?

Also, I have a list of a few doctors who are certified to provide this exam, but there appear to be only two doctors in Bern where this can be done, and they are currently rather overbooked. Any idea where I can get an updated list that maybe lists more doctors in my area?

Your help will be immensely appreciated.

I have been through Class 2 in the US (Commercial) and Class 2 in Switzerland (Private).

The exam here includes EKG, urine specimen, and bloodwork IIRC. Also a hearing test if you ever want to fly IFR. I don't think it's gender specific.

You can do a Web-search for JAR-FCL 3 and will find a lot of info about the (IMHO) wayyyyy too restrictive attitude ICAO / JAA take towards general aviation.

My AME was Dr. Sze in Zurich so I can't help you on the Bern side of the Röstigraben, sorry.

They do the hearing test even for VFR tickets. And no, it is non-invasive. Heck, even the professional Class 1 ticket isn't invasive (if we take invasive in the medical acception of opening someone up and looking to the inside bits and pieces).
