it won't be perfect in terms of keys being where you expect them. look at these images. the keys are physically in different places.

Swiss:

US:
Thx for the image comparison!
Definitely it won't be perfect, but at least it'll be something workable - as currently I find the Swiss layout simply impracticable (I fee like back when I was one-finger-typing noob )

On the other hand, changing keyboards every now and then is very good for the synapses

Re: Getting US English / QWERTY keyboards in Switzerland

Just learn to touch-type.

I have all kinds of keyboards, all set to US layout.

I don't give a crap about what is on the keys themselves.

touch typing doesn't help if you go to hit a backslash and hit enter instead because there is no key there! or you go to hit enter and some other key because the shape of the enter key is off....

I use Swiss, UK, Norwegian, Italian, French, and USA keyboards all set to US layout with no problems for the past 30+ years.

Iím prefer the Swiss German keyboard now as all the umlauted and accented characters are on a single keystroke and not on a shift sequence.

I never use those.

Anyway, I recently replaced the Swiss keyboard on one of my laptops with a US one, cost me $9 (from HK).

Re: Getting US English / QWERTY keyboards in Switzerland

I ordered my last one with Swiss keyboard, figured it would make the most sense since I plan on living here, and if I would be on a average workspace all keyboards are to be expected Swiss ones. Feels so stupid to state that I am good with computers and then cannot find the keys...

Isn't using a Swiss keyboard part of the naturalization-requirement?

Re: Getting US English / QWERTY keyboards in Switzerland

Always bugs my work colleagues when they need to type something on one of my computers, and the keys don't match what is written on them!

This alone is worth it all!

Thanks for the info, but using a separate keyboard doesn't help when I'm on the go..
I have found (and already ordered) some really cheap stickers on Amazon.it (will get back with feedback once I receive them):

I got the stickers and am very satisfied with the outcome
