Shimano bike shoes, probably fake?

I recently bought a pair of shimano road bike shoes on Ricardo and I have a strong suspicion that they are fake. The leather smells like cheap plastic Chinese import and you could even see the glue on the bottom of the shoes.

Of course I contacted the vendor and he refused to give me a refund. Sadly I already closed my ricardo account and can no longer contact ricardo.

Is there anywhere where I can send the shoes to see if they are really fake? I would also like to go to the police to file a report but want to make sure I have a valid point.
Any idea how I should proceed?

I'm sure that you could contact Ricardo even without you account still open. That should be the starting point if the vendor refuses your dispute

Isn't Ricardo a secondhand buy/sell website?

Or did you buy from an official dealer's webshop?

Not sure who you are going to file a complaint against really? I think it's one of the risks from online buying versus buying in an actual shop.

I've had a couple of pairs of SPDs from them, and your description doesn't sound that different to the real thing, TBH.

I have never used Ricardo and am not in Switzerland but I could easily contact them by email or phone (In English if I want).

Have they banned you or something?

Re: Shimano bike shoes, probably fake?

I guess it depends which price range the model of shoe is in as I've seen plenty of the cheaper ones that look terribly made and don't use real leather.

Re: Shimano bike shoes, probably fake?

I have the top of the range Shimano shoes with carbon soles. I believe there is no leather in sight (Pleather!) and I think they are made in China. I doubt it would be worth faking them.
