| | Printing birth announcements in Zurich?
I was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for a printing shop in Zurich that prints birth announcements.
VistaPrint is probably the cheaper option, but I'm looking for an A5 type folded card (about 40 prints) which they have limited models for on the site... and I've had a poor experience with Vistaprint cards in the past, where half of them arrived slightly bent.
Has anyone had any good experiences in Zurich with a local printing company?

No.
But I'd also consider ifolor.ch and the products available from apple...
Can you ask your company, where they print the Christmas cards they send to their customers (if they do send custom cards)?
If I didn't want to go via ifolor and Apple, I'd ask the printer we use at work.
And make sure it's delivered to my work-address, so they know not to f*** it up ;-)

Thanks for that!
I'll look into those online ones.
Your company still prints Christmas cards? Ours decided we would move to electronic a few years back already... it seems like the snail mail era is slowly dying out.

;-)
But they print cards, yes.
And the boss orders about one palette of Spanish wine (or two) per year (at anything up to 150 CHF or so per bottle), which is partly hand-distributed to clients by sales & marketing. Together with a Christmas card.
Smaller clients only get a card, though.
Our clients usually have more than a 70 CHF/month DSL package...
But the number of gifts we receive has been declining over the years. But we still receive cards, that get thrown out in January....

I also don't know any printer locally. However, we have printed lots of cards (christmas, wedding etc) with moo.com and have been very happy with the quality. Perhaps not the cheapest option but to be honest we haven't really shopped around for price after being satisfied with moo.com. We also liked that you can print different pictures on each card, so if you want to fill up an order you can make a different selection of pictures (i.e. extra thank you cards or birthday cards or something).

No offence to the OP... But I really don't get the point of doing this.
I have recieved these for four nieces/nephews, but I had already been told of the birth date, name and been sent pictures by text message. Then seen it all again on Facebook. Why do I need informing a third time!? I get parents are excited .... But | The following 2 users would like to thank Island Monkey for this useful post:

Maybe the OP doesn't have Facebook (or doesn't want to share anything personal there), doesn't want to sign-up to Snapchat, Twitter, tumblr and also doesn't want to send it via MMS?
While my mother actually has a FB-account - I myself haven't. Nor has my brother, IIRC.
And most of my other relatives (aunts, uncles) are very old now and kind-of "old-fashioned".
Often, these cards also serve as an invitation for the christening of the child.
IIRC.

But to answer your question:
1. Grannies and older relatives don't have Facebook and still like to receive cards and such through the good old mail
2. I actually enjoy receiving a card in the mail! When was the last time you got something nice in your mailbox other than invoices?
3. I don't plan on posting kid pictures on FB. I'm not paranoid about privacy but I am not a big FB user. My friends and family (as opposed to the 300+ FB "friends" I have) are the ones I care on sharing the news with. Yes, I could send an email to all but as I mentioned, it doesn't have the same charm
4. I find it cheap when people send wedding Thank you cards by email instead of real cards. No offense to you if you do, I understand we are in a paper-free era, but it still feels penny-pinching...

I'll look into it. I checked out IFOLOR.ch and it looks like they offer good quality prints. I also plan on printing Christmas cards, so what Moo offers is a good idea, thanks for the tip!

| | | | | This is good. It horrifies me when I see some of the stuff people put on Facebook of their kids. Not only will the child probably be horrified when they are older at the stuff their parents shared with the world, but despite the parents privacy settings, there is nothing to stop a "friend" copying a picture and posting it where ever they want. A friend of mine actually posted a picture of her children's passport info and photo pages on Facebook 😱 . Sorry that was all completely off topic!

This is my recommendation: Ma'Loulou in Biel. You can order online and I like her cards :-) http://www.maloulou.ch/de/geburtskarten/ | This user would like to thank kanga for this useful post:

Thanks for that - they look amazing.
Did you also order 50 copies? It looks like it's the minimum...
