Anyone wanna hangout sometime?

Hi, Im a little bit bored living in canton vaud, im a stay at home husband at the moment, and theres only so much cleaning i can be bothered with, if theres anyone in the area, that would like to go mountain biking, bush walking, looking for snakes and lizards, yes i have found 4 vipers here, but I was looking for them, dont kill them! If you happen to have any reptiles(wild and non human) in the house let me know, ill move them on for you for nothing. But this isnt australia, so i doubt there will be many takers. Anyway im finding time goes really slow, every day is a sunday. The locals are lovely and friendly but no one speaks english and my fringlish is still pretty shocking so unsurprisingly ive found it hard to meet people. If anyone else is around in the canton vaud area jura side, and you like nature, animals, cycling (fixie or mountainbiking) walking adventuring etc... I have a couple of abandoned tunnels i want to explore as well. Weekdays are good. weekends are for the wife! Hope someone wants to hang out soon or at least talk english at me!. Cheers
Max

Canton Vaud is pretty big, where about?

Weekdays only might be a problem eh .. For all the non stay at home husbands!

Must say I'd love to try the stay at home part for a while, although with the kids it might be kinda spoiled

Where abouts in Vaud? It's a big canton.

Those abandoned tunnels sound interesting.

I work 3 days a week so I often have weekdays free.

Hi John_h and Kreeeee. Im in the aubonne area, weekdays arent a must weekends are good to. My wife is swiss and likes to relax on weekends, ive always got energy for an adventure.
The tunnels are in the vallorbe area, i think theyre old military tunnels. Theres no signs say no entry no signs at all actually. Just a hole in the mountainside that go a few hundred metres each way, dunno whats there yet, still need to explore. But i imagine its a great place for the little bats and other critters, also interested in finding some old bunkers, seem to be heaps around these parts

I've been to the tourist caves in vallorbe, I'd be happy to see some of the less common things there too

Re: Anyone wanna hangout sometime?

I have been to the non-tourist caves in Vallorbe. When I went about 20 yrs ago one had a sign outside saying that it was full of endemic and hitherto undiscovered creepy crawlies. Obviouly take a good torch and sturdy shoes. Like most caves they are damp and black as night.

Its quite traditional round these parts to take some absinthe to drink, probably because it used to be illegal, so that added to the spice of the adventure, and of course you werent likely to be caught!

I would get the one year travel card... and just hop from town to town. Best way to pass the time here and free. If you make it to Zurich while I am still here... Shout. I will show you around.

If you are in Aubonne you only need to go to Ikea to find a herd of English speaking wilderbeasts with their offspring.

I know your wife is Swiss so maybe a bit jaded to her own country, but does she not realise how bored you are and can she not make some effort to do some day trips on a weekend instead of simply relaxing at home? Do you have kids?

Being so bored at home with no real work or hobby's other than cleaning is a slippery slope for anyone... I'm sure you are ok at the moment, but 6 months down the line? 1 year?

Re: Anyone wanna hangout sometime?

could be persuaded to do a spot of mountain biking when the snow is off the Jura, the sections of the GTJ are great on a mountain bike! PM me some contact details.

Plus even though you are from the wrong hemisphere the 6 nations matches are quite entertaining and the fishermans pub in Nyon (or the bulls in Gland) is a good place to watch and meet some internationals.

If you come to Zurich, I can show you and around. Even better if you like photography- as I am a professional photographer. We can do a day tour and take pictures together!
Cheers!
