Where can I have jewellery (re-) gold-plated in ZH?

Hi all,

My SO has a necklace which, while originally gold-plated, has faded over years of wear.

I'd like to surprise her by having the necklace gold-plated again. I can imagine that this is the sort of thing which is difficult to find and/or ridiculously expensive in Switzerland, so I was hoping to hear from anyone on the forum who has had good/bad experiences with this sort of thing in the past.

All suggestions (where to go/avoid, rough price guide etc) gratefully received.

Thanks!

I use this guy for Zinc and Chrome for car parts:

A really nice guy. He does do gold plating, according to the local.ch ad. I would say go by, rather than call. If you're lucky you'll end up with a contribution to the kafi-kasse, but that will probably depend on if he has the gold bath going for a current job, and how much prep work the piece needs.

Failing that, google "galvanik vergolden" and limit your results to Switzerland. Many watchmakers and jewellers can rhodinieren, or gold plate in house as well, so you're not just limited to platers.
