Recycling - books and heavy stuff - zurich

hello

I browsed the forum, and have two questions I find the answers unclear for my specific situation.

As I am trying to unload the house of as much useless items that I can, I find myself having the followinf problems :

1- I have (shit)loads of useless books, in french and a few in English. I offered the english ones on the free stuff part, but i do not know what to do with the rest. Do I have to tear the covers apart from the paper and recycle in 2 stacks, one paper, one cardboard, or is there a place I can leave my books as they are ? second option is prefered.

2- i have a few heavy items (kid beds) and I gather I have the right once a year to recycle it/have it picked up, but I do not understand how it works. any hint for me please ?

best regards

You should ask at your town hall in France. I know that commercially you would need a permit to bring rubbish across a border.

well, technically I could make this part of the move, but I do not see the point here to spend effort and diesel to throw away 1 000 km from here something as mundane as books.

the last option I have is to take it to the country house and burn it outside.

i'd rather fill the trunk of the car, do 2 trips and voila, problem solved environmentally friendly way.

I don't understand you very well. You must not burn stuff in the garden.

If you are in Zurich, here are the details of recycling centres,

You can always on a dry day put a lot of things on the street with a sign saying "Gratis" if you are in luck that should get you rid of a bunch of things, what's left you through in a car and bring to the recycle center, of pay some extra and have them collect it the next morning.

Re: Recycling - books and heavy stuff - zurich

hello

thanks for the replies, but to be crystal clear :

1- I want to avoid moving the books to France to dispose of them there, it's stupid

2- gratis french used book in swiss-german speaking areas is not an option, it just doesnt work. plus I will anyway have to recycle the rest that will not be taken.

3- recycling centers I know/find on the net recycle paper OR cardboard, meaning I have to disassemble something like 100 books

4- i did not find a book collection facility

5- I look for a place or way to recycle BOOKS as they are, not having to tear them appart.

so if someone did this already, a clear indication on how/where to proceed would be welcomed. pointing me to a google search, while nice, is useless as I already did my homework. I searched her using "recycling books" as keywords, and did not find a suitable answer.

regards

Have you checked with the local Brocki? I read suggestions on this forum about some Brockis that accept used books - maybe you can check some of the older posts.

Brocante in French. They may take them. Otherwise see if your local library might be interested in them.

It seems you are still in the German speaking part of Switzerland, where you can find Bücherbrocki who will take your books written in all languages.
