Getting electronic item by post from abroad

Hi All

Can someone receive an electronic item( mobile phone) as gift with price around 250 CHF from abroad .
Will recipient need to pay any TAX or surcharge ?

Gifts are also subject to the charges at the border. They don't care whether it's a gift or not.

Another option, if you live near the border, is to send it there and circumvent those fees

You'll be importing, so of course you will have to pay impost duties or MwsT

I meant getting it delivered to a friend who lives in France and works in Basel

lets make it simple - if the "gift" is coming from one EU country to another then no charges - if its coming from ebay china etc then expect to pay.


and on previous experience the French charges are very high
