| | Volunteering near Baden?
Hi Everyone,
I moved to Baden from Canada about 5 months ago and I am looking to give back to the community by volunteering. So far, I can only find positions that require fluency in German (I can't speak German). Do any of you have any ideas where I could help out?
Thanks so much!
Brett

Hi Bill,
without german, it might be a bit difficult find work that actually has something to do with the human "community", perhaps you would have more luck with animal shelters.
I used BENEVOL and FREIWILLIGENJOB when I was looking but eventually volunteered with the AOZ.
Good luck.
H.
ps: Mods, perhaps we can merge with this thread.

I am also seeking voluntry work within the Schaffhausen area. I have previously volunteered in the UK, working with substance misuse clients, does anyone of any addictions services nearby that make take on volunteers? Other than that I am also willing to work with animals, or in another voluntry sector.
I do not currently speak German, as we have just arrived here, but am starting lessons in the next week. My boyfriend is out at work all day, and as well as giving something back, I need to keep busy or I'll go insane!! |

Often do work with the Bergwald project, the tierheim in Singen and also with the forestry department in Schaffhausen.

Phil, I'd also love to learn of volunteer opportunities.

You can volunteer at Zoo. You can find information on their website but it is German and they also require you to speak German unfortunately but I don't know which level is enough actually. You also pay money to volunteer They want you to be serious and you should go there every day like working there.
Looks like there are quite many expat volunteers and it could be possible to make another animal volunteer group for English speaking people. If anyone interested, please let's create a meetup group.

Hi there! I was about to ask that too about volunteering . A friend of ours is wants to come to switzerland by the time we will be there, and he started searching about volunteering but to individuals. Has anyone heard or done something similar? You work for a family for some hours and they provide food and bed. His main purpose is to learn better german and later get a normal job. I can't remember the name of the site he found all that information. Any help?
