Actually, in some cases photography forbidden signs aren't worth the ink they're printed with.

Many shops like to put those signs up. The most absurd one I ever saw was at a camera shop. I asked the shopkeeper how he expected me to test the camera without taking a picture. He didn't understand why I thought I wasn't allowed to take a picture until I actually rubbed his nose into the sign.
