Christmas is coming so we need to think about presents.

My question is: Do you give presents in the form of money/ other presents to people working for you? Cleaners, the concierge, the local garage.

My cleaner is really nice and i appreciate her help so im thinking either giving her something nice from body shop or a double salary with a nice card.

Also, a plate of homemade cookies for the garage i take my car to.

By doing this, i hope they will remember me and treat my nicely when i need them. Or will i end up being labeled ‘stupid immigrant, lets take advantage of her’.

What do you do?

People working directly for me like a cleaner who cleans in my house, yes absolutely something extra for Christmas. The garage or the concierge would not be on my list of people who get something for Christmas.

We usually give:

• Bottle of Mauler (a local "ok sparkling wine") to the postie
• 15 chuffs to the newspaper boy/man
• A present to our cleaner (value around 25 chuffs)

That's it. I wouldn't worry about the garage as you probably don't have the same people working on your car each time.

We give:

• a btl of red and a btl of white to our family doctor,
• same for the gardener (when a garden was had),
• Cleaning lady gets 25.- extra in a card and a btl of wine (for sharing with her hubby over a meal)

For the holidays, I always give extra cash to the cleaning crew who comes to our place, accompanied by some nice Italian goodies - coffee, sweets, etc.
We have a new doorman/janitor this year so he'll also get the same treat
