Re: Melectronics Black Friday sale - 65" LG OLED TV

I take it this has to be bought online or it can be done in store too?

Cheers for the share. I had been waffling on an upgrade since we watch less TV but at this price, seems a smart move

According to the Flyer we got yesterday, it seems that it can also be purchased in-store but the website says no ?? (see links I posted). I would go with an on-line order rather than risk not getting one. Keep in mind that it is only today and there are only 140 TVs available.

If you need a wall mount, the best deal is to purchase the LG version that is designed for the non-Vesa set-up that they have. It is cheaper than other ones I saw in Melectronics and elsewhere. Here is the link to the on-line stores.

when you look around at other 4k 65" tv's (eg samsungs) then this isn't such a good deal, you're saving maybe 200chf, so do a bit of research before you hit add to basket

Samsung TV's are not OLED. Big, big difference in technology.

This is a damn good price, even though it is last years model. The 2017 equivalent is 3000chf http://www.toppreise.ch/prod_500595.html

Yep, very true. I think Panasonic & Sony are also effectively using LG screens for their OLEDs and that's the tech I had my eyes on.

I keep reading about issues with the FW for the B6 which has me hesitant (Some white flash issues) as originally I had considered the E6. All the way in Suisse and I am being suckered in by black friday, mon dieu!

No idea how prevalent the white flashes are, but the majority of review and AV sites don't seem to list it as a problem during their tests. I'd need to see it to judge how annoying it is.

I will likely wait until next year when the 2017 OLED's come down in price as the panels and features are more of an improvement over the 2016 models.

Ugghh, too much good reasoning in that post. I will waffle until those 140 are gone and do similar

Re: Melectronics Black Friday sale - 65" LG OLED TV

It is a 1,5 year old model which they clean out of stock, but the quality is good, it has 4x HDMI (including 2.0A) and HDR10, and it is a cheap price. If you want one now it is a good bargain, if you are all but in a hurry one could wait till the football worldchampionship 2018 is coming close which traditionally should bring a huge amount of good sales and a general price declining on televisions.

Re: Melectronics Black Friday sale - 65" LG OLED TV

I bought the 55 inch version of this model a few months ago when they reduced it at Interdiscount (1600 CHF). Would otherwise snap this up as it is a bargain.

For those concerned about performance, quality control issues. My TV unit has had no problems. It seems they sorted some of the early issues (e.g. frame rate skipping) with the latest firmware updates.

Overall, this is a damn good TV. The colours are outstanding, as are the black levels, contrast etc. I also like LG's user-interface - in comparison to Sony and Samsung its far more user friendly. I guess those in the know about OLED technology know that this is a great bargain The nearest tech for picture quality is samsung quantum dot... but doesnt come close to OLED, in particular the viewing angles. BUY!!

Does it have all of the UK on-demand channels like iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD etc? Also, is the interface quick, smooth and responsive?

Interface is very smooth and responsive. UK-exclusive apps and content will not work for obvious reasons, maybe there is a trick via a proxy server (you could do that via a laptop then connect to the TV via HDMI). I use Netflix a lot and it works absolutely fine, 4K looks outstanding.

And you have an inferior opinion on just about everything I have ever seen you post about.

But yeah, to answer your ridiculous post more seriously, there is a very good reason why the LG OLED TV's are consistently getting top marks from the major review sites. They are now pretty much the best TV brand in terms of panels and software, and much better value than Sony and Panasonic.
