Loud music outside of the flat

Let me add two notes:

1. The question is not about listening to loud music inside one’s flat.

2. I asked the police but the office couldn’t give me the law. I got a phone number which will work from January 2018 due to the holidays.

So, what are the laws about playing loud music:

1. In the garden, when one has neighbors.

2. In the garden, when one has only distant neighbors (> 50 m)

3. Inside the town but far away from the houses. For example, next to the Züri Lake.

4. Outside of town. For example, in the forest, next to the forest.

Let’s suppose no other activities are involved (entry fee, drugs, political messages). Let’s suppose the point is not to disturb others.

But it’s loud.

Not a problem until 10 pm.

Why not simply go there and ask them to turn the music off a bit?

1. The policeman told me a different answer but he was not sure.

2. Because it’s me who plans to do this.

Re: Loud music outside of the flat

Just go and ask your Gemeinde- each Gemeinde/Commune has their own local by-laws, as well as Kantonal Laws. Whenever we do gigs here in our field- we always talk to the neighbours, put notices up (inviting them to join in) and always warn the Commune just in case. Never a complaint and we have had hard rock concerts too, not just Hang and Violin or percussion.

Students of mine - and they are a lot louder in real life lol:

Depends on where you live and how your neighbours would react (and what type of neighbours you have)

Re: Loud music outside of the flat

Thank you.

Based on this, it seems that next to the Züri Lake, and next to a forest, and before 10 pm, it’s okay.

Except for "Aktivitäten im Innern von Gebäuden und solche, die ins Freie wirken, dürfen Dritte nicht erheblich belästigen."

So, what’s significant? How is it measured? Or if anyone says they are disturbed on a significant level, then it is taken true?

Probably yes, if the police can hear the music when the person complains calls them, they will probably agree on significant. How many db do you want to go for?

Re: Loud music outside of the flat

Get a permit, then you can be loud until 1AM or so (at least around here)

Will it be louder than a chainsaw on a Sunday (I can get away with that here)?

Another factor might be the number of people attending.

---

Seriously, the simplest, most effective approach is to speak with the Gemeinde/Kreisburo where the event will take place. What is permitted or tolerated in one area might bring down the Wrath Of The Geraniumpolizei in another. There are so many factors at play, we are just guessing.

Talk to the local Powers That Be.

And then talk to the neighbors.

Generally they are one and the same.

Where our rustico is, the only neighbors within 500m or more have a woodcutting business, and are rarely around.

No idea, but we are rarely there during the week, and they don't work on the weekend.

I think that they mainly use it as a depot, though they do have hydraulic splitters and such, but on trailers, so they probably cart them around and do it in situ.

It wouldn’t be long, big, or planned in advance, that’s why it’s difficult to announce it.

The link is not my music style but I liked the video. And the singer is cool.

The horrible thing is that chainsawing in my garden three times a week even in December is legal.

I don’t get it.

"Because it’s needed".

Yeah, and for 20 CHF more they could buy 40 dB more silent electric machines. But they use the loudest gasonline machines.

It’s wouldn’t be much planned. More like: going there based on the mood, playing and practicing for an hour, and coming home.

That’s a good question.

At home, I never listen to loud music. I like my ears and my neighbors.

The loudspeaker I bought is specced to 134 dB. The subwoofer is not here yet.

A week ago, I went to the forest to try it. I turned it on for a minute. It might have been at 60-70%. It’s difficult to tell.

There were 30 meters tall pine trees around. The ice started to fall from them.
