Re: Whose helicopter is going South from Bach towards Pfaffikon..

Not guilty on this occasion but for my last anniversary I took my OH for a ride on my chopper... unforgettable it was

(no really! there are several firms that fly you out of Kloten, I went with Heli Zuri, it really was fab - you can fly pretty much where you like, our pilot even radioed the control tower to allow us a house fly by)

Hmmmm, I googled "Feuerwehrhelikopter Schweiz" and all I got was Lego

Sorry, incorrect. Listed on place 7 was playmobil.
Doesn't Switzerland have a bit of a Lego and Playmobil feel to it?

I've noticed that helicopters are used a lot in Switzerland to do jobs which in other countries would require a truck or a crane. I suppose with the terrain, the curvy roads and the relative cost of things here, it makes economic sense, especially in the mountains. It's also quicker than spending a day to set a crane up to move one or two heavy items.

Up here at the back end of our valley, there is helicopter traffic most days. It gives the kids something to look for, anyway (trying to locate a helicopter by sound alone is quite the challenge when you're surrounded by mountains).
A few years ago when I was living on the farm in the mountains, I looked out the barn window and saw a cow flying past. I hadn't been drinking but I ran out and saw this.

(actually, not exactly this as I didn't have a camera, but it was exactly like this but with more realistic straps holding the cow)

Switzerland.

The country where storks deliver babies, but the cows need a helicopter.

One of the nicest things of living here in Schwyz is the peace and quiet...that is until that helicopter passes over every few days..any ideas who is on such urgent business that they have this special license to disturb these tranquil parts

So what's your problem with it?

We live quite near the UniSpital heli-landing port, and know that an organ transplant or patient is being bought in almost every day and/or night. We're oblivious to it.

Before, my ex-partner knew it as a sign that they'd be on-call soon for the transplant.

You want the storks to transport the cows? Come on, be reasonable

I always tell visitors Switzerland is like your Uncle's train layout. It looks amazing, but you aren't allowed to play with it.

Ah, life in the Steuerparadis.

Have to say, though, I live fairly close to the Fuchs Helipad and rarely hear anything.

Maybe at least my ears have succesfully integrated?

I like that.

Fuchs Helicopter AG is located in Schindellegi. Those helicopters could be theirs.
