Identity certification at the post office?

We are completing forms for solicitors in the uk and we have to provide photo ID with a certification of true likeness. It’s stated on the forms that this can be done in a post office, but i think its a standard letter relating to the UK.

Does the post office offer this service here? If so, what should i ask for (im in düütchschwiiz!)

Re: Identity certification at the post office?

Considering they do certified photocopies of IDs and also identification for criminal record extracts they might do it. More of problem is that they may not understand the form or have no code to bill it. Give it a try and report back.

Oh, nearly forgot: Identitätsnachweis

The certification will need to be in English, they charge CHF 20. If they can't understand any English they can't sign the certificate!
A notary will do it if the post office cant. Swiss Banks are a no go but French Banks are very helpful.

Yes they do, you go with your passport or ID, they scan it, print it, put a seal on it and charge you 26 chf or so...

That's just a certified copy, they also have to certify that the photograph bears a true likeness to the person asking for the copy.

Re: Identity certification at the post office?

You can get a (quasi-)certified copy of an ID at the Post Office (not quite the same quality as a certified copy by the public notary but it is accepted by Swiss banks to open accounts):
https://www.post.ch/en/private/all-a...cation-private

However, you would not get the "certification of a true likeness". Appears that the UK needs that if you are submitting photos (https://www.gov.uk/countersigning-passport-applications).

The real formal way to confirm that "you" have indeed signed something, would be to have the public notary authenticate your signature.

The alternative would be to go to an attorney and ask to "certify the true likeness".

Re: Identity certification at the post office?

I suggest your Swiss bank.

The UK pension people write every couple of year to ask if I’m still alive. I take their form (only in English), my passport and ZKB Maestro card to the local branch of the ZKB and ask them to sign and stamp the form with their ZKB stamp.

Costs nothing...

Re: Identity certification at the post office?

According to Beobachter Die Post charges 25 for their service wheras SBB does it for 18 only. As mentioned your bank may confirm your identity, perhaps even for free.

Not-that-big communes/cities may offer the service as well, Frauenfeld for instance charges 10. However Winterthur and Zürich don't offer the service at all.

ZKB Uster is free - and if they try to charge I will tell them I'll take my overdraft somewhere else...

Re: Identity certification at the post office?

UBS did it for free when we needed it (we are UBS customers).
