Location for wedding

Hey guys, my fiance and I are planning to get married in the summer of 2009.We are hoping to have the wedding in Zurich or nearby. We would love a location that is Swiss and informal that would come with rooms so that our many friends who would be travelling from abroad have a place to stay.We have checked out Hotel Boldern in Mannedorf and we are looking for something similair before we decide.Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Re: Location for wedding

Hi - I am looking for a wedding location too! has anyone given you any hints so far? I find it really hard to find all I want in one (ceremony, apero and dinner... and hotel rooms). Let me know if anyone gives you any tips.
Someone on this Forum recommened http://www.hof-landschi.ch/ but I dont think they have hotel rooms....

Re: Location for wedding

Hello, first we also considered getting married in or around Zürich.
Some of the possible options we found included; Here is a two-page PDF document with an overview of venues/castles for weddings etc, grouped by canton.

In the end we decided to get married in St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest, next Saturday the 13.September .

Re: Location for wedding

There is a nice hotel with a restaurant on the road halfway across the lake - I'm not sure what its called - but we've eaten there a few times with visitors as it has lovely views.

I'm sure all the old guidhalls in Zurich would be nice as well and would be near to hotels at different budgets for your guests

There are also boats you can hire and have a reception on those

Have fun planning!

Re: Location for wedding

Hi, we got married here http://www.rheinfall.ch/schloss.html The only rooms available are at the youth hostel which is right next to the schloss though. We hired a bus to transport all our guests from Zurich to the Schloss and back. And I got a group rate for all our guests at the Ibis hotel in Zurich.

Re: Location for wedding

Just had another thought

If you got married in early December you could probably get a very good rate at one of the pretty mountain hotels as its before main ski season - you'd then have snow, mountains etc etc. Very Swiss for visitors

I got married last summer at hof-landschi, can recommend it 150%. The people there are great, the price is amazing and the food/event was perfect. Its close to Luzern, they do not have rooms but there are hotels not too far away at decent enough prices.

Again, had an amazing day, would def!!!! recommend.

Re: Location for wedding

We had our reception up on Ulto Kulm. It's quite smart now and there are cool rooms.

We rented an extra train to take the guests down after the normal trains had stopped running for the night. This took all the guests who weren't staying straight back down into the middle of Zurich which was great as none of them had cars.
