Re: Guitar shop in Zurich?

The best one in Zurich is Bass Center which has now moved to Schlieren. They even make their own Bass guitars called 'Zola'

Best for what? They have the smallest range of all the zurich guitar shops. Maybe better for bass, and I confess I was only in the old store in Alstetten, perhaps things have changed now in the new place.

I like Promusig near Hardplatz. Good selection. Some guys speak english too.

www.promusig.ch
Yeah they're okay. They've got an outlet near Lochergut as well. It's certainly a place where you can try out guitars at least a bit - better than MusikHug where everything is "don't touch" (or so it seemed the last time I was there). I need to really check out guitars and amps over a certain time frame before deciding the one I'd like. If I can't try stuff out I'm almost okay with buying stuff from an online catalogue.
Total Gitarren near Zwinglihaus bus stop is not too bad either but his markup's seem higher than most - haven't figured that one out.
Still nothing quite like Guitar Center here sadly.

Re: Guitar shop in Zurich?

It's the same shop, equal distance between Hardplatz and Lochergut. I've bought 3-4 guitars there in the last few years, never had a problem.

Gitarrentotal prices are very high and they don't respond to emails. Duncan who works there setup a guitar for me 7 years ago and it still plays like a dream. Shame about the prices.

Re: Guitar shop in Zurich?

Yes I agree with Nigel "gitarren total" in Aemtlerstrasse, Wiedikon is the best, try it out

I know I am late to the party but that Bass shop across from the train station in Altstetten sucks. If you know what you want or are just browsing then it's ok.

Gitarren Total AG Aemtlerstrasse 15, 8003 Zürich
044 463 16 16

The best I've run across in a long time.
Amazing selection
Amazing sales people
I agree its a great shop but their mark ups are taking the piss somewhat, but I suppose good for them

Re: Guitar shop in Zurich?

Not sure why this showed up in my EF info (as the thread is from 2014), but this is a great place to buy guitars: https://jaccoud.ch/

But this might be a better alternative: https://www.thomann.de/intl/index.html
