DHL DE Package Center vs Euroretour

Hi,

Has anyone used the DHL package centers in Germany?

Often use Euroretour.ch, but saw with an order I just placed, they use DHL and I could arrange pickup at one of the package centers which will save me a few Euros per package.

Order was with this company which I recently found on the forum here: https://www.bio-apo.com

But also looks like you can have Amazon.de packages sent to package centers too.

I've had issues with a 'lost' package with DHL in the past, so hope to have a better experience.

Would be interested to hear others views...

Hubby has been using the Amazon lockers and is happy with that. Downside is not all items from Amazon can be delivered to them (only their own stuff) and it needs to be picked up within 3 days.

But using DHL Germany requires something called a Post number, and to have a post number you must have a German address (as in they send a letter to that to make sure your name is on the box etc..). No?

Re: DHL DE Package Center vs Euroretour

Well I was able to create an account and used my friends address in Germany (which he has let me use for deliveries). I have then been given a postal number.

Only issue is if you want to receive an mTan, you need a German mobile phone. Guess I could try getting a pay as you go Sim next time I'm over and stick it into an old phone.

Is it worth all the hassle? There are Amazon pickup points that do not require any of that!

You only need the mTAN to open package station boxes. As I have requested delivery to a package station, should not be an issue.

Which Amazon pickup points are you talking about? Not aware of these and could be a better option.

Go here and enter a German postal code or address. It finds the closest pickup points for you:

https://www.amazon.de/b?ie=UTF8&node=11498162031

Some are DHL centres and require that Post number, but some are not.
