| | Large-Format Scanning
Hello Forum,
I am an artist/researcher who has been living in Switzerland for a few months and cannot find anywhere that does large-format scanning (e.g. A2 - A0 paper sizes). This service is available in Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands but I cannot find it anywhere here. I live in Uznach, St Gallen, but would travel anywhere that provides this service.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on this matter.

That is weird. I tried all manner of formulating the search in English and German and found a few places that sell large-format scanners (your first link is such a firm) but couldn't find somewhere that provided it as a service. Your second link is just such a place, located in the Zurich. I knew there must be a place that provided this service and didn't understand why I could not find it. I apologise for taking your time to acquire such an easily-obtained solution but, for whatever reason, Google wasn't helping me.
Many Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I had checked these places but they either sell scanners or only provide the service to firms who want to digitise their documents (so, only for hundreds of documents). The second link provided by EdwinNl appears to do it. I have emailed them.
Thank you both for your speedy replies!

The first firm also scans documents. Yes they may be offering a full service of scanning all of a company's documents, but I would guess that they would be open to doing a one-off if you brought them the document(s).
Here is the link to their scanning service page: http://www.supag.ch/de/scannen-_content---1--1134.html |

Many Thanks! | | | | | All I did was put in papier scannen A0 in Google and hopla they popped up.
My first link also does provide a A0 scan service and depending on how you travel they might be a better option then Zürich for you.

If not, I might get dot at or dot de websites using DE keywords that are not what we want.
Since most companies like this would be local, I assume they would have a Dot CH website address.
So the search would be - key word(s) site:ch in the search line.
For EdwinNL's example it would be papier scannen A0 site:ch to find Swiss websites that scan A0 pages.

Thanks for the info. I have found google a bit confusing here. Your region-specific search will come in handy. You are correct that SUPAG will scan the document but I am closer to Zurich. Fotoplast has replied to my email and they can scan the document. Many thanks for all the replies!

Google is good for searches where location is largely irrelevant. However for stuff where a short distance is strongly preferred (I'm aware that OP would "travel anywhere", but to me that formost indicates the importance of the service to OP) I start with local.search.ch, it's one of the electronic phone books.
The nice thing with the phonebook is that you can search by commune or Canton, and you can enter partial names or key terms. In this case I'd use "scan" or "druck" (many print shops offer scanning as additional service) as name and Uznach, or SG (the whole Canton), as location. SG denotes the Canton, St. Gallen the city. Where useful you can prefix the Canton with a slash, e.g. /AG for a search within Canton Aargau.
Usually the descriptions in phonebook give you a good idea where they see themselves, much better than the description returned by a google search.

In any case, here's the company that I usually use for scanning large format plans: https://aebersold.ch
They do a great job. It's not too far from Zürich. And right around the corner for Uznach.

The advantage of Google is that you can add more specific terms that Google will then find on any page within the company's website. All that in a fraction of a second. Going through local.seach.ch with your search terms the OP will get every little shop that does printing/scanning of A4 and A3 pages as well.
The search that EdwinNL did in German (with my added CH website constraint) would get the OP someplace in the DE speaking areas of CH. The OP could also add SG or St. Gallen to the search or another town (before the site part) to see what comes up.
Doing the search this way (focus on A0 scanning) filters out the 99% of companies/services that do not meet his needs. Then geography comes after - either via the search or a click on the link to see where they are.

The question is what you prioritize.
Speaking of scanning, have a look at this (in German but I trust you can find similar stuff in English as well): Never trust a copy you didn't counterfeit yourself., also hosted by Chaos Computer Club in Hamburg, which places a high level of trustworthiness on its content. The presentation from 2014 is on scanners (and thereby copiers as well) that falsify the output by replacing letters and digits with other digits and letters. Chances are those at your office are affected as well. If you follow the links provided in the YT post you may find subbed versions.
